General Factory Labourer and Driver Cover

We are a Specialist Joinery manufacturer based in the Billericay area producing in our factory high class joinery projects for Clients within the high-end commercial sector of the building industry.

Due to a retirement, we are looking to employ, on a full-time basis, an eager, good humoured, fit person to maintain our workshop cleanliness, assist our joiners in the handling and wrapping of joinery items in preparation for transportation, and generally assist and maintain in the good housekeeping of the factory to ensure we are all working in a clean and safe environment all under the guidance of the Production Manager.

In addition to the above the same successful applicant will be able to provide Driver coverage on either our Long Wheel-Base Company Van or hired Luton van, when holidays, or additional deliveries etc are required or taken by our Main Driver.

Due specifically to our Van insurance stipulations, applicants must be 21+ years old as a minimum and the holder of a Full clean UK driving licence.

In addition, the applicant must be able and willing to drive into Central London but not exclusively.

Other requirements we seek from the successful applicant are –

  • To be able to work in a team and equally on their own initiative.
  • Fit and healthy, as lifting is required (manual handling training will be provided)
  • Early riser and start (as it may be required to affect a delivery early morning in London)
  • Not a clock watcher if a delivery drop is timed that you arrive back out of hours.
  • Be willing to assist in all other reasonable tasks requested of them.
  • To be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK

In return the company will offer –

  • 39 hours per week full time employment (after successful 3-month probation)
  • Overtime at 1 ½ times flat rate after first 41 hours worked

Working at Specialist Commercial Joinery

Our work is always bespoke, high class and constantly varied, any potential newcomer would need to be conversant and enthusiastic about working in an environment that incorporates veneers, hardwoods, solid surfaces, laminates, metalwork, upholstery and glass – all of which is part of working in specialist joinery. This would need to be coupled with a full understanding of CAD setting-out drawings.

With  having a number of different dovetailing departments, such as machining, veneering, spray/finishers as well as solid surfaces and bench joinery, it’s essential that each area of the business works seamlessly with the other to achieve a quality service  end-product.

Specialist Commercial Joinery do not specifically employ dedicated ‘fixers’, even though some of our joinery is manufactured on a supply and install basis. The reason is because we believe that to ensure the best quality results for our clients and for ourselves, is for the team who have built it go out to install it!  Our joiners enjoy the change in environment as they take selected projects out and carry out the installation themselves. This process underpins the individuals ownership of each project, all the way through the build process and results in a high quality end-product with zero snagging!
